Brown spots be gone!

In fashion, brown can be a chic, flattering, sophisticated color. But brown spots on your face and hands? Not so much.  In some cases those unsightly dark areas spots are a telltale sign of aging—which is why they are sometimes are called as “age spots.”  Other times, too much sun exposure can be the culprit, since we know nothing ages skin faster than soaking up too many rays.

Technically speaking, those “brown spots are called hyperpigmentation, a condition characterized by unsightly dark areas on the skin. Along with age and unprotected sun exposure, hormones can sometimes play a part, sometimes related to pregnancy. Regardless of the cause, brown spots are never attractive, and they can add years to your appearance. But they don’t have to be a permanent mark on your beauty. Here at FINETUNE Med spa, we have several different kinds of treatments to banish those unsightly brown spots for good.

So if you’re looking to banish those pesky spots–and improve your looks–here are two smart alternatives:

Option One: A chemical peel takes a different approach to helping rid your complexion of those pesky brown spots. As the name implies, peels work by “peeling,” or sloughing off, the surface layer of skin; that allows new, clearer skin to grow in and take the “top spot.” Peels come in different strengths, varying by how deeply they penetrate the skin. To excise brown spots, a Glycolic peel, which is in the mid-range, is usually recommended.

Option Two: Broad Band Light (BBL) delivers a gentle heat to the upper layers of your skin to precisely target your skincare concerns. This heat powerfully stimulates skin cell regeneration to diminish the look of sun damage, brown and red spots and reveal a fresh, clear complexion.

Here’s the bright “spot:” Once you do successfully eliminate brown spots on your skin, they are gone for good. Of course, new ones may appear, particularly if you continue to indulge in a sunbathing habit. If you haven’t started already, now is the time to make a habit of always applying broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) to block out UVA and UVB rays (even if you have a darker complexion, protection from the sun is a must.)
